Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Growing up, Dr. Alexa spent a lot of time in her father’s dental office. He taught her very early on about the artistry of dentistry, and she quickly realized how much joy it could bring to people by helping them achieve their ideal smiles. Her dad has always been her role model, so she naturally wanted to follow in his footsteps.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Alexa earned her undergraduate degree at Miami University before going on to graduate from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Shortly thereafter, she completed a General Practice Residency at the University of Kentucky, where she gained valuable experience in dental implant dentistry, sedation dentistry, and treating medically compromised patients. She was also able to obtain her IV Sedation certification. While in school, she received the Pierre Fauchard Award for outstanding academic achievement and dedicated service to her profession.
Dr. Alexa is also a member of the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, Chicago Academy of Interdisciplinary Dentofacial Therapy, and the Airway Collaborative Chicago Study Club. She has also taken continuing education through the prestigious Pankey Institute, Spear Education, and KOIS Center.
Over the years, Dr. Alexa has participated in many community outreach programs, free dental programs, and dental mission trips, including one to Peru to serve people in the Amazon Rainforest.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Alexa is happily married to Dr. Kathy French’s son, Tom, and they have a baby daughter, Eleanor, as well as a silky terrier, Dallas. When she isn’t spending time with them, Dr. Alexa likes to read, travel, watch college sports (Go Cardinals!), and practice yoga.
