Itasca Illinois dentist Doctor Kathy French

For over 35 years, Dr. Kathy French has practiced dentistry in Itasca, and she says what makes her job truly special is the people. She loves making her dental patients smile and working with the wonderful, collaborative group at Hamilton Lakes Dentistry. She can’t wait to welcome you into our dental office and help you achieve the smile you’ve always wanted! But first, you can start getting to know her below.

Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

Dr. French’s interest in dentistry sparked when she was 22 while attending college at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. During this time, she began to see the perfect blend of medicine, architecture, and engineering that goes into the profession, and it seemed like the perfect fit for her.

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Dr. French had the benefit of attending the number one dental school in the United States, the University of Michigan. She says it set the standard for her professional career, and she has pursued her post-doctoral studies with the same interest and vigor as dental school.

While she graduated decades ago, Dr. French has stayed current (and some would say visionary) thanks to the vast amount of continuing education she has completed. She is an alumnus and educator at the Pankey Institute, a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, a Diplomate in the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, a Diplomate of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and a member of the:

  • American Academy of Restorative Dentistry
  • American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry
  • American Dental Association
  • Illinois State Dental Society
  • American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine
  • Chicago Academy of Interdisciplinary Dentofacial Therapy

She has also trained with a variety of prestigious institutions, including the Dawson Academy, Piper Education & Research Center, Spear Education, Kois Center, and the Hornbrook Center. In recognition of her contributions, Dr. French has been recognized by Chicago Magazine as a "Top Doc" numerous years in a row.

Dr. French and her husband have been happily married for over 35 years, and they have three grown children, one adorable granddaughter, and a goofy dog named Murphy. In her free time, she likes to do anything that involves being outdoors, including golfing, snow skiing, and cross-country skiing. She’s also always happy to keep up with the University of Michigan football!
